What You’ll Do
- Responsible for the overall financial plans and policies along with accounting practices and relationships with the financial community.
- Manages all treasury, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, audit, tax, accounting, and risk management.
- Responsibilities Directs, through supervision of the Controller, processes and systems necessary to maintain proper financial and accounting records, accounting controls, and services, including accounts payable, vendor maintenance, revenue and cash receipts, payroll accounting, and cash management.
- Review/create and be responsible for monthly reporting package for the building company that provide for timely and reliable financial and operational information for internal decision making, including analytics that accompany the financial reports.
- Implement current technology solutions within existing Technology Platforms to improve efficiency of accounting operations and financial reporting and to reduce error rates associated with excel based accounting, manual journal entries, and imprecise reconciliations.
- Review accounting practices to determine Technology Platforms enhancements and assist in development and testing of solutions developed by IT team.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies, in coordination with the Corporate Accounting Team Prepare, evaluate and/or analyze financial models and forecasts with respect to lot position and future lot pipeline, lot takedowns, starts, deliveries, discounts for impairment, and the timing of new community openings.
- Closely monitor and provide leadership in the scheduling of closings throughout each month, with the goal of establishing even flow for starts and closings.
- Participate in strategic and tactical management planning.
- Direct, through supervision of the Controller, all internal and external auditor requests.
- Coordinate with The New Modern Home Chief Accounting Officer to enhance existing internal controls and implement new controls as required or necessary.
- Monitor current financial position, direct strategic planning activities, and establish operating budgets.
- Works closely with Division President to properly determine status of communities and any revisions thereof.
- Works closely with The New Modern Home's CEO and COO for forecasting and reporting needs, including monthly presentation of financial package and other information as requested.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum of 10 years of Accounting experience within the Real Estate industry; minimum of 2 years at a senior level, overseeing a business’ Accounting / Controlling function
- Bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting, finance or similar business field
- Experience working in listed company in Financial Services and/or Real Estate
- Advanced computer skills on MS office, accounting software and databases
- Passionate self-starter that can take action independently
- High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
- Financial Expertise: strong foundation in accounting, finance, and economics; deep understanding of financial statements, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and other financial principles • Familiarity with general ledger functions and necessary month end/yearend close process
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and management, other departments, and those outside the company (vendors, customers, owners, etc.)
- Strong ability to adapt to changing circumstances and develop solutions to new and unique problems/challenges Ability to train and develop employees with respect to technical skills and interpersonal/soft skills
Your Supervision of Others
Manages the Controller and responsibility for all accounting and finance operations. Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment
